ProLiteracy Capitol Hill Day Liaisons Needed - Free Training Included
This year's ProLiteracy Worldwide Annual Conference will kickoff with Capitol Hill Day on Wednesday November 7, from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., an opportunity for conference attendees from around the country to visit with their representatives in Washington to tell them about the important issue of adult literacy. D.C. LEARNs will work to schedule a meeting with our own representative in Congress that day, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. Members of the adult education community here in D.C. can also help by volunteering to accompany conference attendees from other states to their meetings in order to help describe for Senators and Members of Congress the experience of attending or teaching in an adult literacy program.
By acting as a liaison for the day, you will also be able to participate in the training activities planned for conference attendees in the morning — for free. This is a great opportunity to learn more about advocating for literacy — lessons that can be applied locally in then months ahead!
If you are interested, please fill out this form and fax it (202-331-0143) or e-mail it to us at proliteracy@dclearns.org by October 12th — the earlier the better!
