HOURS: Monday through Friday
8:45 A.M. - 5:30 P.M.

FUNCTIONS: Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, the incumbent is responsible for developing, coordinating, recruiting, interviewing, monitoring and evaluating volunteers for the librarys volunteer program; reviews requests for services of volunteers, registers and assigns them to system locations; consults with the Human Resources Director to develop new strategic initiatives, identify resources, and initiates connections with diverse groups to expand awareness of the Library's volunteer program; develops workshops and trains supervisors and volunteers in library policies and procedures related to volunteer positions; creates a volunteer handbook, maintains a database of contact information for volunteers; writes monthly and annual reports and tracks the number of volunteers by directorate and the total number of hours volunteered.

Writes evaluation guidelines and reports of program effectiveness; assists in coordinating special events where volunteers are needed and plans and executes an annual recognition event for volunteers. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: CS-09: one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-7 grade level; or Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. CS-11: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-09 level; or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. Specialized Experience is defined as experience in the same or similar work of this position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

KSA #1: Demonstrated knowledge of principles of volunteer management and functions as they relate to management principles, practices, methods and techniques.

KSA #2: Demonstrated skill in program design, research, analysis and evaluation.

KSA #3: Ability to record and present ideas effectively, orally and in writing.

KSA #4: Knowledge of and skills in understanding and working with diverse populations and community resources and effective public relations.

KSA #5: Skill and proficiency in office technology, including email, basic Internet searching and Excel.
