Computer Instructor - Part Time (15 to 20 hours weekly)

CLASSES CONDUCTED MONDAY THRU WEDNESDAY - Hours to be determined at interview
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Computer instructions that increase students ability to be computer savvy to
develop resumes, cover letters, and conduct internet searches to identify
non-traditional career choices
-Must be able to deliver instructions to a class of participants with varying level of
computer skills.
-Submit weekly lesson plans for approval by the lead instructor
-Adhere to established curriculum; identify and report to Project Director any
need for changes to address students learning styles.
-Follow established instructional guidelines, and methods that measure students
progress.
-Prepare students to deliver team computer presentation on trade career of
interest.
-Other related duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience working with adults in an academic setting.
2. A BA Degree or currently enrolled in an institution of higher education with a
minimum of two years experience teaching adults.
3. Understanding of the adult education, life skills, and non-traditional career
concepts.
4. Understanding of the psychological and social challenges faced by under-employed
women and female returning citizens.
5. Strong oral and written communication skills.
6. Strong teamwork skills.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Washington Area Women in the Trades (WAWIT) is a
12-week nontraditional employment training for unemployed and under-employed women. The YWCA has developed a five point strategy in collaboration with the Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, and Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW). This five point strategy includes (1) outreach and recruitment, (2) literacy and math skills curriculum, (3) advanced training and information pipeline, (4) case management and (5) institutionalizing career pathways.
The position is located at the YWCA National Capital Area - 624 Ninth St., NW, Washington, DC 20001. (Across from the Gallery Place Metro Station)
