Program Director, Inner City-Inner Child, an outreach program of Dumbarton Concerts in Washington, DC

Dumbarton Concerts is seeking a full-time director for its outreach program, Inner City-Inner Child. This award-winning program, now in its 14th year, works with pre-school inner-city children. It encompasses an early learning/literacy through the arts program, a professional development program for child care center teachers and a family literacy program.

The job will include involvement with Dumbarton Concerts, a performing arts organization located in Georgetown, now in its 30th season.

Responsibilities:
-The Program Director will: Coordinate Dancing with Books our early learning through the arts program, work with/schedule Artist Teachers and select child care centers to participate in the program

-Select trainers, determine curriculum and coordinate the ICIC professional development program for child care center teachers

-Coordinate Read with Me, our family literacy program: Prepare workshop materials, schedule workshops, and select child care centers to participate in the program

-Maintain partnerships with national organizations such as PBS Ready to Learn and Wolftrap.

-Help with grant writing and preparing PR/communications materials about Inner City-Inner Child

-Bring creative ideas to this very effective arts education program

-Coordinate volunteers for Dumbarton Concerts

Education/Experience:

Bachelors degree or post-graduate work in education/arts administration preferred. Relevant experience includes early childhood education, early learning through the arts and literacy, and working with volunteers. The ideal candidate has strong, warm interpersonal skills, is highly organized, self-motivated, creative and energetic. Strong writing skills are required and attention to detail is a must.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
