Instructional Specialist- English as a Second Language
The Literacy Council of Montgomery County, MD seeks a full-time Instructional Specialist to help implement standards-based English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
Working in a team of program specialists, this person will implement class curriculum based on Maryland content standards; mentor and coach teachers and volunteer assistants; identify professional-development needs of teachers and help coordinate activities to address those needs; assist with the development and execution of the programs data quality plan; review unit and lesson plans; maintain teacher resource library; coordinating instructional supplies; and perform other duties as assigned based on program demographics, enrollment trends, and the needs of the target client populations.
This is a grant-funded position. The Instructional Specialist will be expected to attend grant-mandated trainings and communicating pertinent information to the appropriate local program staff; attend grant-mandated train-the-trainer initiatives and subsequently train local staff; and attend professional-development activities.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree (masters preferred); teaching experience required; adult-education teaching experience required; training and mentoring experience required. Fluency with MS-Office applications (MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint) required. Must be willing to attend grant-mandated trainings and meetings.
Position Details: Full time. Salary range: $52K - $62K with benefits, depending on experience. Position located in Rockville, Maryland.
