D.C. LEARNs Launches Effort to Increase Awareness of Literacy Services for Children and Families
Thousands of posters are being distributed this month to Washington, D.C. residents to publicize D.C. LEARNs' expanded literacy hotline services, which will now include assistance to parents seeking literacy programs and resources for their children and information for potential volunteers who may be interested in serving as a tutor or a mentor at one of the many nonprofit literacy programs across the city that serve children and youth. The two new posters — plus a new brochure — were designed thanks to a grant awarded by Target to D.C. LEARNs in late 2007. The grant also included the funding that was used to add information about D.C. child and youth literacy programs to the D.C. LEARNs program database.
