Director - SouthEast Ministry
Southeast Ministry, a non-profit faith-based outreach ministry of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, seeks a qualified individual to make a long-term commitment as Director. Located in the heart of Ward 8 in Southeast Washington, Southeast Ministry (SEM) provides a ministry of hope for men and women in a safe and respectful environment through education, job readiness training and other programs that build self-esteem, transform lives and help those involved realize their God given abilities. To achieve this mission SEM offers the following programs: 1) Job Readiness, 2) ABE & GED Preparation, and 3) Youth Literacy Services.
Position Description: The Director of SEM is responsible for overall management and operation of the five staff ministry. Overall management includes financial, development, personnel, program, recruitment/retention of clients, and facility management. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the operation including the important relationship with the Lutheran Church of the Reformation. Specific skills, knowledge and experience needed include:
• Demonstrated experience managing a budget in relation to actual daily revenues and expenditures within guidelines of the program.
• Demonstrated experience identifying and raising program funds through foundations, government, churches, corporations, individuals, community organizations and others. This includes new and existing funding opportunities.
• Grant Compliance for new and existing projects.
• Knowledge of adult literacy, youth literacy and job training.
• Monitoring and evaluating program outcomes in the areas of ABE/GED, job readiness and youth literacy.
• Strong experience managing all aspects of the organization's human resources including supervision, staff development, timesheets, leave, staff meetings and evaluation.
• Demonstrated experience working with a board of directors and providing leadership and guidance to staff and board on future growth of the organization.
• Strong written and oral skills.
• Organized, detail oriented, and interpersonal.
• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in non-profit management, MBA, social work, or a related field preferred.
• 3-5 years experience managing staff.
• Previous leadership experience in a small community based organization a plus.
Salary: low-mid fifties + benefits
