D.C. LEARNS: Washington D.C.'s Literacy Education, Advocacy, and Resource Network

Overview

As part of our current three-year strategic plan, D.C. LEARNs is involved in a series of coordinated efforts to raise the visbility of literacy issues to policymakers and develop the capacity of D.C. LEARNs members to advocate for increased government funding and sound adult literacy policy in the District of Columbia. Eventually a second strand of this work will address issues related to child/youth literacy policy and funding.

To date, these efforts have included the creation of a D.C. LEARNs Public Affairs Committee, a corps of Literacy Policy Liaisons, and an ongoing corps of Policy Analyst Interns from local colleges and universities.
